After the Storm: Kiski Stands Strong

On April 29, a powerful storm swept through our region and directly impacted Kiski’s campus. In the span of just a few hours, more than 30 trees came down, including several that had stood for generations. Power lines were damaged, structures were blocked or threatened, and the entire campus was without electricity for nearly a week.

Despite the disruption, the spirit of Kiski never faltered.

Thanks to the extraordinary leadership of our faculty and staff, and the tireless work of Jim Good and our campus maintenance team, students remained safe, supported, and remarkably positive throughout the experience. What could have been a crisis became a reminder of the strength of this community.

How You Can Help

While we are not creating a separate storm fund, gifts to The Kiski Fund directly support our recovery efforts — including tree removal, repairs, emergency services, and campus restoration — alongside the daily priorities of student life and academics.

Special Thanks to:
Jim Good & Team

We extend our deepest thanks to Jim Good (Kiski Parent ’05, ’11, ’13) and the entire maintenance team for their extraordinary effort, calm leadership, and commitment to student safety and campus restoration. They worked day and night to clear roads, assess damage, and begin repairs while much of the region was still without power.

Their work not only restored physical access, but also helped preserve the sense of normalcy that defines the Kiski experience.
