The Kiski School Welcomes Largest Group of Girls in School History

Record enrollment of 53 female students highlights continued growth of Kiski’s coeducational community

When The Kiski School welcomes students to campus tomorrow for the 2026-27 academic year, it will mark a milestone in the school’s transition to coeducation: 53 girls will join the Kiski community, the largest population of female students in the school’s history. The record number of girls is part of an overall enrollment of 208 students, the largest student body in the past decade, underscoring the momentum behind the school’s evolution from an all-boys institution to a coeducational college-preparatory school.

Since welcoming its first female students in 2023, girls have become an increasingly visible and influential part of campus life. They are participating across Kiski’s academic, athletic, leadership and residential programs, contributing new perspectives to classrooms and campus traditions while helping shape what coeducation will look like at a school with a long-standing history of educating young men.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for Kiski,” said Head of School Dr. Mark Ott. “Having our largest group of girls ever on campus is more than a number. These young women are becoming an important part of the fabric of our school. They are competing on our teams, contributing in the classroom, taking on leadership roles and building relationships throughout our community. We are excited to see the ways they will continue to shape Kiski’s future.”

The growth comes as Kiski continues to expand opportunities for female students. This year, the school will introduce two new girls sports — girls lacrosse and girls basketball — further expanding opportunities for female students to compete, build relationships and develop leadership skills through athletics. The additions complement Kiski’s growing slate of girls athletic offerings and reflect the school’s commitment to creating opportunities for girls across campus life.

Kiski’s coeducational growth is also contributing to a broader campus community. This year’s 208 students represent 34 countries, bringing a range of cultural backgrounds and experiences to the school’s 350-acre campus approximately 30 miles east of Pittsburgh.Beyond athletics, students have access to 18 Advanced Placement courses, global travel and educational opportunities, leadership experiences, a robust residential life program and a college-preparatory curriculum designed to challenge students academically while supporting their development as individuals.

For Kiski, the record number of girls represents both a milestone and a glimpse of the school’s future. “Coeducation has brought an exciting new energy to our campus,” said Dr. Ott.  “We are proud of the community our students are building together, and we look forward to watching this next generation of Kiski students make their mark on a school that has been preparing young people for lives of purpose and achievement since 1888.”
